On Thursday, the United States Supreme Court ruled that a group of doctors did not have the legal standing to challenge the Food and Drug Administration’s regulation of mifepristone, the drug that causes a pregnant woman to have an abortion.
According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, medication abortions account for the majority of abortions in the United States. When these drugs are sent through the mail in a “telemedicine abortion,” pregnant women never see a doctor in-person before they terminate their pregnancy.
This ruling came as the issue of abortion rights has escalated in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision.
A Gallup poll published Thursday found that a record-high 32 percent of U.S. voters say they would only vote for a candidate for major office who shares their views on abortion.
In addition, the poll shows that 61 percent of American adults favor allowing mifepristone, the abortion-inducing drug, to be available with a prescription.
Broken down by political party, 87 percent of Democrats, 61 percent of Independents, and 32 percent of Republicans support this.
On the other hand, 10 percent of Democrats, 28 percent of Independents, and 61 percent of Republicans oppose this.

Regarding in-vitro fertilization (IVF). 82 percent of Americans said that they think IVF is “morally acceptable.” Forty-nine percent said that they think it is “morally acceptable” to destroy frozen human embryos created by IVF. Forty-three percent said they believe this practice is “morally wrong.”

Earlier this year, Townhall covered how Republican Sens. Ted Cruz (TX) and Katie Britt (AL) introduced legislation to ensure that access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) is legally protected nationwide.
The legislation came about after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled in February that embryos created through IVF should be considered children under law. The case came when parents alleged that an IVF clinic failed to protect their embryos, leading to their destruction as a result.
