Biden Makes It Clear He 'Cares Far More About Optics' Than Helping Americans

President Joe Biden has tried many different tactics when it comes to the multiple crises created by his policies. From inflation to the border and foreign policy to national security, the president has developed a routine he and his spokespeople run through. Each time, they fail to convince the country that their warped version of the truth is correct — and Biden's approval ratings prove Americans aren't buying the White House's furious and often tragically laughable spin.

First, Team Biden denies. There is no inflation and the border is not open are just a few of the whoppers repeated from the West Wing. When Americans refuse to buy the denials, then Team Biden passes the buck. It's Putin's price hike. Republicans caused the border crisis. The last ditch effort then becomes transparently staged photo op drive-bys that fail to show the problem as it exists but allow Biden to try pretending he's taking things seriously.

That's exactly what the president is doing on Thursday with his trip to Brownsville, Texas. Another attempt to feign concern about the border crisis (the one he created) he spent years denying and scapegoating others for.

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) put a finer point on the situation: "President Biden’s choice to visit one of the slowest sectors of our Southwest border makes it abundantly clear that he cares far more about optics than actually addressing this historic, self-inflicted crisis," Green observed.

"According to reports, the White House canceled a trip to the Tucson Sector earlier this week, where Border Patrol agents are encountering upwards of 2,000 inadmissible aliens every single day," continued Green in a statement on Thursday morning ahead of Biden's trip. "This is far more than the 300 encounters on average in Brownsville, and double what former President Obama’s DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson called a ‘crisis,’" he reminded. "It’s easy to see why the administration relocated the visit."

Chairman Green emphasized that the "American people deserve accountability from this administration, but they will not get that today. President Biden and his impeached DHS secretary could end this crisis now by simply enforcing the laws on the books — laws that bipartisan majorities in Congress passed. Until that happens, the American people — from Tucson, Arizona to Athens, Georgia — will continue to bear the overwhelming and unacceptably cost of this crisis," warned Green.

Also pointing out Biden's pointless photo-op at the border: the National Border Patrol Council. Despite dubiously declaring himself to be the "most pro-union president" in American history, Biden reportedly failed to invite the border patrol union to join him during his visit — and they're responding in kind.

In addition to a flurry of media appearances on Thursday to coincide with Biden's trip to Brownsville, the border patrol union is dishing out some grade-A trolling:
