Townhall recently reported how a major beauty pageant filed for bankruptcy days before its annual competition. While the beauty pageant organizers had not expressed the reason why, many reports indicated that the move was a result of the pageant’s latest “woke” policies that allow men who believe they are women to compete against females.
In an interview this week, a former judge for the competition shed light on the situation.
This week, a judge for the 2022 Miss Universe competition revealed that the organizer for the event likely filed for bankruptcy because it lost support for pushing the LGBTQ+ agenda, including it being run by a biological male who identifies as "transgender," and allowing transgender competitors.
"I think the outrage about a trans woman coming to Miss Universe and preaching, 'Bring the power back to women,' couldn't be more of an oxymoron," the judge, Emily Austin, said in an interview on Thursday on Fox News’ "Varney & Co."
Last year, Townhall reported how a Thai business tycoon, Chakrapong “Anne” Chakrajutathib, who is a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman, purchased the Miss Universe pageant organization for $20 million.
When the news broke, Chakrajutathib said that this is “the first time the beauty pageant organiser will be owned by a woman,” according to Reuters.
"I think her company in Thailand has its own financial issues," Austin continued, "but socially and morally it's just wrong. And people are starting to catch on that."
The 2023 competition will still run as planned in El Salvador this week. It will include two biological males who identify as “trans women.” This includes Marina Machete, 28, who won Miss Portugal, and Rikki Valerie Kolle, 22, who won Miss Netherlands.
Kolle’s win occurred in July, which Townhall covered.
“I'm so proud and happy I can't even describe it,” Kolle wrote after he won. “Making my community proud and showing it can be done.”
Last month, Townhall reported how Machete was crowned Miss Portugal. Ahead of his win, he wrote on Instagram that he is “proud to be the first trans woman to compete for the title of Miss Universe Portugal.”
“For many years I wasn’t eligible to compete and now it’s such an honor to be a part of this incredible group of candidates!” Machete wrote.
