New Poll Shows Trump Defeating DeSantis, Haley in 2024 Primary

Former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy are running on the Republican ticket for 2024. Several reports have indicated that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis could run as well, and polls are showing who Republicans will vote for.

In a hypothetical 10-person Republican presidential primary, Trump earns 55 percent of the vote, according to Emerson College’s latest poll released Tuesday. This included DeSantis, Haley, and Pence.

“This number reflects his standing in the January Emerson poll, as well as the June 2022 Emerson poll,” the write-up noted. 

Emerson College’s January poll, which Townhall covered, also showed Trump defeating Biden in a hypothetical 2024 rematch, with Trump earning 44 percent of the vote to Biden’s 41 percent. In the write-up, Emerson acknowledged that previous polls showed Biden ahead.

Though DeSantis has not said that he’s running in 2024, polls have shown who voters would support if the Republican nomination were between the governor and the former president. Emerson College’s November poll showed Trump earning 55 percent of support to DeSantis’ 25 percent. No other Republican candidate in this poll earned double-digit support, which Townhall covered. However, a poll released by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research said that DeSantis was the preferred candidate among Republican voters.

Emerson’s poll this week also found that Biden’s approval rating was at 44 percent. In a Trump and Biden rematch, it showed Trump earning 46 percent of the vote to Biden’s 42 percent. According to the poll, Biden would beat DeSantis and Haley.
