Van Jones Reveals Why Joe Biden Is Making a Comeback and It Has Nothing to Do With Last-Minute Endorsements

Former Vice President Joe Biden has had a massive surge in Super Tuesday states. He has been declared the winner in Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama, Colorado and Tennessee. We're still waiting on the biggest states with the most delegates at stake, California and Texas. As it currently stands, Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) has a small lead over Biden, but it could ultimately be a toss-up.

Although most pundits believe Biden's success has to do with the fact that former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar dropped out of the race and endorsed the former veep. And, at the last minute, former Rep. Robert "Beto" O'Rourke (D-TX) also threw his name behind Biden. Despite that, CNN's Van Jones believes Biden's success has to do with Elizabeth Warren's debate performance, not the sudden dropouts and endorsements.

"I think it's not a mystery why Joe Biden suddenly emerged. It wasn't about Joe Biden," Jones explained. "Elizabeth Warren destroyed [Michael] Bloomberg. Elizabeth Warren – not Joe Biden – destroyed Bloomberg and knocked that out."

Jones brought up a valid point. Warren went after Bloomberg, specifically citing previous reports of sexual harassment and nondisclosure agreements (NDAs). The Massachusettes senator pressed Bloomberg to release the women from their contracts so Americans could hear directly from them. Bloomberg, of course, declined to do so. The next day Bloomberg release the women from their NDAs.

Warren went after Bloomberg for dropping a ton of money into the race, saying he's trying to "buy the presidency." Going after the former New York City mayor seemed like a great idea at the time but all she did was pave the way for Biden. Warren and Sanders share the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Bloomberg and Biden are vying for the moderates. Warren didn't help herself any. She just propped Biden up.

How will this all shake out? Only time will tell.
