Trump Skewers Democrats for Holding Up the USMCA Until Announcing Impeachment

President Trump went after Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and House Democrats for not scheduling a vote on the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement until Democrats announced their articles of impeachment against him. The USMCA has been sitting in the House of Representatives for almost a year.

House Democrats announced they had had reached a deal with the Trump administration on USMCA less than an hour after they officially unveiled their two articles of impeachment.

"For Nancy Pelosi to announce USMCA — and she did it on the same day that they announced that they are going to impeach! The 45th president of the United States — and your favorite president, I think, " Trump said Tuesday at his rally in Hersey, Pennsylvania.

"And the reason they announced it on the same day one hour later, they announced impeachment, a few guys standing behind here, and announced impeachment. And then an hour later, she announced that she’s going to do USMCA. Do you know why? It’s a huge deal, and it plays down the impeachment because they are embarrassed by the impeachment and our poll numbers have gone through the roof because of her stupid impeachment," he continued.

Trump added he thinks it a "silver lining" of the"witch hunt" impeachment is "the reason they approve USMCA. So that’s okay with me. They approve it, and they are very happy to have it. But honestly, it’s an incredible deal for our country. It took too long. Waited in Congress for too long of a time. Incredible deal."

In their morning press conference, House Democrats said they are presenting abuse of power and obstruction of Congress for their two articles of impeachment.
