Rep. Jim Jordan, the ranking member on the House Oversight and Reform Committee, called the impeachment inquiry resolution into President Donald Trump the "ribbon on a sham process" during his interview with "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, the resolution was formally voted on the House floor and passed with zero Republicans and two Democrats voting against it.
"One way you determine someone’s credibility, determine what their motivation is, what biases they may have, they need to be under oath, answering your questions and frankly the position we have is the same position Adam Schiff had six weeks ago," Jordan said. "Remember when this first happened Adam Schiff said we need to hear from the whistleblower. Then, six weeks later, 'No, no, we don’t.'"
"They passed this resolution last week. I said it tries to put a ribbon on a sham process, but when you do that, it is still a sham process," he continued. "Adam Schiff is still in control. He gets to decide the witnesses. In fact, when they notice the first hearing, which could happen as early as next week, we have to provide a witness list. But Adam Schiff decides if they get to come or not. He is in charge."
Jordan said the reason why Democrats are pushing for the impeachment is because "they think he will get reelected." He added he does not think Republicans will be able to get Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) to testify about the amount of contact his office had with the whistleblower prior to filing their complaint.
As the impeachment inquiry is now being moved into the public phase, some of the transcripts from the depositions have been released. The House Intelligence Committee released the closed door testimonies from former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch and former Ambassador Michael McKinley on Monday.
