If you thought Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam was having a bad week, well, it just might have gotten worse. The governor stepped in it when he pretty much said that all a proposed Democratic bill on abortion would do is…legalize infanticide. House Delegate Kathy Tran wanted to expand abortion virtually up to the moment of birth. Luckily, this heinous bill, which is similar to the legislation that was passed in New York, was rejected:
When asked if he supported the bill, Gov. Northam argued that decisions by physicians can be made to allow an infant to die even after birth.
“If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen,” he said. “The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”
Tran said she misspoke, but the damage is done. Not only that, but there are videos of the two seemingly promoting straight up baby killing. This is Kermit Gosnell territory. It’s sickening. It’s wrong. It’s immoral. It showcased the Left’s extreme lurch into extremism on abortion. Tran’s Democratic colleague in Virginia’s House of Delegates, Dawn Adams, had to apologize to her constituents for co-sponsoring the bill, saying she didn’t read it.
Northam has remained unapologetic about his remarks. Well, he may have more headaches than just people calling him out for his appalling remarks about late-term abortion. It seems an old yearbook photo of Northam’s days at medical school contains some problematic material. An alleged photo that’s been circulating social media purports to show Northam in blackface or a Ku Klux Klan outfit while he attended Eastern Virginia Medical School back in 1984. If true, then how did Ed Gillespie’s team and the Republican Party miss this during the 2017 gubernatorial election?

Hi, @GovernorVA. If you thought the last 48 hours were rough, buckle up, buddy. https://t.co/34JZGOTDbH

If this is accurate - it looks it, but I confess I'm not sure I should trust Patrick Howley without corroboration - nobody involved in the Gillespie 2017 campaign should ever work on a campaign again. How could you miss this kind of oppo? https://t.co/GF57HWAIvf

It should not be that hard for a credible source to go check if that is actually Ralph Northam's yearbook, before we draw any conclusions about it. I find it hard to believe nobody caught that before now.

A local paper, The Virginian-Pilot, obtained the original photograph from the library of Eastern Virginia Medical, showing two people in blackface and a Ku Klux Klan outfit. Is it Northam? It’s most certainly on his yearbook page. It seems Northam is off to a banner start in the celebration of Black History Month (via Virginian-Pilot):
A photo from Gov. Ralph Northam’s medical school yearbook shows two men, one in blackface and one in a Ku Klux Klan robe and hood, on the same page as the governor.
The photo, which The Virginian-Pilot obtained a copy of Friday from the Eastern Virginia Medical School library, comes from the 1984 yearbook, the year Northam graduated.
On the half-page set aside for Northam, there is a headshot of him in a jacket and tie, a photo of him in a cowboy hat and boots and a third of him sitting casually on the ground, leaning against a convertible.
The fourth photo on the half-page has two people, one wearing white Ku Klux Klan robes and a hood, the other with his face painted black. The person with the black face is also wearing a white hat, black jacket, white shirt with a bow tie and plaid pants. Both are holding canned drinks.
It’s unclear who the people in costume are.
The governor’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment Friday afternoon.
Flashback: These Northam campaign ads and materials seem a bit awkward now.
UPDATE: It’s a full-blown dumpster fire. Folks are having fun ripping Northam right now, playing off his abysmal remarks about late-term abortion. No comment from the governor’s office yet, but his nickname at VMI was rather…problematic. Also, again, GOP, how did you miss this in 2017?

The Virginia Military Institute's yearbooks are digitally archived online, for anyone who wants to see this for themselves. This is from 1981 and it is on page 90.https://t.co/vOvHQ9q6Oe https://t.co/RB5MXfBmmq

Crack job by Ed Gillespie’s oppo team missing the other candidate’s BLACKFACE/KLANSMAN YEARBOOK PHOTO

Can we get the name of the oppo research firm for Ed Gillespie's campaign? Asking for a friend (who never wants to hire them).

Would be worse for him to be in the blackface or the Klan outfit?

"So is this [Northam yearbook photo] real? I dunno. I'm going to leave it to the photo's mother and doctor to decide if it is viable. Until then, I'm going to keep it comfortable." https://t.co/KJG5UNGlkU
