AOC Is Being Urged to Run for President. Here's Her Response.

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) hasn’t even been sworn in yet but she’s already facing calls to run for president.

The 29-year-old responded to an article Vox’s Matthew Yglesias wrote, discussing why he believes Ocasio-Cortez “should run for president.”

“How about... no,” the former bartender responded. “Sometimes political media is too fixated on personalities instead of policies.
 
 “The whole country JUST went through an exhausting midterm election. We need a break.
 
 “Can we instead talk about healthcare, a living wage, legalizing cannabis, GND, & other issues?” she tweeted. 

Yglesias argued in his article that the age requirement of 35 to become president is “ridiculous.”

"While the law prevents anyone under the age of 35 from becoming president, we currently have a septuagenarian in the White House whose frequent nonsensical diatribes and notoriously scattered Twitter outbursts repeatedly raise the prospect of mental decline," he wrote. "Meanwhile, the top two Democrats in national polling — Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden — are 77 and 76, respectively."

Ocasio-Cortez, he argued, "isn't that young." 

"People younger than [29] are routinely trusted with life-and-death situations in a huge array of contexts, ranging from parenting to military service," he said.
