Activist Linda Sarsour came under fire on Wednesday for posting an appeal to donate to a PAC under the guise of Hurricane Harvey relief. Sarsour tweeted a link to the "Harvey Hurricane Relief Fund," which, upon further investigation, isn't actually a relief fund at all.

The money raised by the organization will go to "shining a spotlight on inequalities" that may arise during the rebuilding effort. It does not appear that money will actually go towards the people who lost their homes in the storm.

Later on in the day, Sarsour complained that her "mentions" on Twitter were going crazy, and blamed the alt-right, rather than the fact that she literally encouraged people to donate to a PAC in lieu of an actual charity to help the actual victims of a natural disaster.

Perhaps Sarsour should have tweeted a link to NFL player JJ Watt's YouCaring page, which has currently raised over $5 million for hurricane relief, with promises that the money will go to the people of Houston. That's certainy a better choice than a PAC.
