Stay Classy, Liberals: Clinton Supporters Now Harassing Trump Electors

We all know the Left’s nonsensical petition to get 37-40 electors to withhold their support for President-elect Donald J. Trump next month is absurd. It’s not going to work. It would stain our constitutional form of government. It would create a monumental crisis. And luckily it has a zero percent chance of being successful. Yet, that doesn’t mean the temper tantrum for progressives will end quietly. On this front, Clinton supporters have resorted to straight up intimidation of Trump electors. Emily Zanotti of The Wall Street Journal-affiliated site, Heat Street, wrote that Politico published a list of all the Trump electors from each state the president-elect won on November 8.

In all, Trump decisively beat Clinton in the Electoral College 306-232. Clinton is ahead of Trump by over a million votes in the popular, which is the source of the anger among Clinton voters. Zanotti added that Clinton supporters have used Politico’s list to harass Trump electors, pressuring them to withhold their votes for the president-elect, or pushing them to vote for Jeb Bush:

According to reports out of Idaho and elsewhere, Clinton supporters have obtained Electoral College voters’ personal information and are harassing them with calls, Facebook messages, emails and even home visits, encouraging them to become “faithless electors,” and change their Trump votes to Clinton votes.

And they aren’t being kind about it: “A lot of ’em use bad, rough language,” said Layne Bangerter, one of Idaho’s electors. “Nothing I feel intimidated over. But we’re watching it very closely. They’ve got our home phone numbers, our cell numbers, our emails, our Facebook. We’re just getting an orchestrated barrage from the left.”

“They attack my religion, they attack my politics, they tell me that I must be a terrible father, I must be a terrible American, they use foul language — every swear word,” Bangerter said.

Some of the calls are telling Electors to “vote for Jeb.”

If there’s anything this election has shown that goes beyond the polls and the data, it’s that Republicans are the only mature ones in the election’s aftermath. We didn’t harass Obama electors. We didn’t hold endless protests. We didn’t riot. We accepted that Obama won another four-year term over a candidate who just couldn’t get the turnout he needed among white working class voters to put him over the top. Romney failed in that task, whereas Trump succeeded. Clinton was unable to energize her base, which allowed Trump to run up the margins in the rural areas, outperforming Romney by hundreds of thousands of votes in some key states, like Florida. Harassing Trump electors? The Left has sunk to a new low. Grow up, kids.

The official results of the 2016 election will be verified in December when the electors cast their ballots.
