Rep. King Explains Why Dem Gun Control Sit-in Is 'Hypocritical'

Townhall caught up with Rep. Peter King (R-NY) outside of the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C. Wednesday morning to hear the GOP congressman sound off on last month’s Democratic gun control sit-in. During the 25-hour protest, Democrats demanded Congress hold a vote on bills that enforce gun control laws that would in part prevent people on terror watch lists from buying guns. Their sit-in came in the wake of the Orlando terror attack.

“The Democrats’ actions are shameful, also totally hypocritical,” King said. “This bill’s been out there for nine years and they never supported it.”

As King explained, similar legislation regarding a no fly list was introduced during George W. Bush’s presidency and they opposed it for supposedly being too extreme. Suddenly, Democrats are the ones who are defending the no fly list and using it as their newest social justice cause.

A few blocks away, House Democrats were holding a rally for gun control near the Capitol.

The Democrats may want to temper their behavior, considering House GOP leaders have threatened to punish their disruptive actions in June.
