Some incredible news in the midst of the horrific events of the past weekend: Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (R), who was diagnosed with "very advanced and very aggressive" form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma this past June, announced today that he is "100 percent cancer free" and is in remission.

Hogan underwent 18 weeks of chemotherapy, all while actively governing the state--sometimes from his hospital room. Hogan was profiled in a touching piece about his experiences as a cancer patient and making friends with other patients. He was blessed by Pope Francis during the pontiff's visit to the United States in September.
In August, he announced that the cancer was "95 percent gone."
Absolutely wonderful news. Gov. Hogan has been an inspiring figure since his diagnosis, and he has been an incredible advocate for cancer patients while bravely fighting his own illness.
