CNN’s April Ryan went into the bunker over this incident. Earlier this month, her bodyguard got into a physical altercation with a local New Jersey reporter at an education summit. It’s all caught on video and the bodyguard was slapped with an assault charge. The liberal media speaks all the time about how President Trump bashing the media is dangerous; it’s not. It’s just spoiled, entitled liberal media elitists not liking being trashed so thoroughly on a daily basis for their Democratic Party activism. If you want to do that, fine—just don’t give off this veneer that you’re unbiased. It’s a joke. Trump tweets, but Ryan’s bodyguard actually manhandled a reporter. Has she been asked to condemn this assault on the press? Probably not, and now she has spoken, and as The Washington Examiner’s Becket Adams noted, she threw her bodyguard right under the bus. She pretty much took the Sgt. Schultz line: “I know nothing” (via Washington Examiner):
It took the 2019 Freedom of the Press Award-winner and White House correspondent only 22 days to break her silence.
Ryan claimed Sunday on CNN that the Aug. 3 episode was the fault of an overeager, and since-fired, bodyguard named Joel Morris.
“I did not order anyone to do anything,” Ryan said, adding, “I was on the stage at the time.”
Surveillance footage shows Ryan speaking directly to Morris moments before he forcibly removed New Brunswick Today founder and editor Charlie Kratovil from the event.
“At that moment, what you saw was my then-bodyguard, who was concerned with my safety, come to me and say, ‘Stop talking,’” the White House reporter said after her interviewer, CNN’s Brian Stelter, played the clip of the altercation. Ryan added that Morris and Kratovil were "about 100 feet away from me, I didn’t know what was going on or what was being said.”

Ryan wrote an entire book in 2018 about the supposed dangers White House reporters face every day in the Trump era. To date, Ryan has faced nothing in her years covering this administration to compare to what her security detail did to Kratovil. Maybe she can give him an honorable mention the next time she writes a book applauding the bravery of reporters like herself.
It’s another profile in courage from the White House press corps. They’re just like first responders, folks. My eyes can’t roll any harder. Ryan is one of the most visible and outspoken anti-Trump writers out there. She has played the victim card after Trump has called her out on her BS--many others have as well. Well, after this, she may just want to dial it back A LOT, but I doubt that'll happen.
