The Man Who Wasn't There: Biden Says He Was Vice President When Parkland Shooting Happened

Does former Vice President Joe Biden know what year we’re in right now? Does he remember what he ate for breakfast? I only ask because he’s capped off this week with two gaffes, both equally terrible.

Leah wrote about his remarks about poor kids, where he said, “We should challenge students in these schools and have advanced placement programs in these schools. We have this notion that somehow if you’re poor, you cannot do it. Poor kids are just as bright, just as talented, as white kids." And now, he swears he was vice president when the tragic Parkland shooting happened…in 2018. Joe, you weren’t there.

Biden made this latest gaffe in Iowa, where he was discussing gun violence in the wake of the two horrible mass shootings in EL Paso And Dayton last weekend, both incidents that wouldn’t have been prevented with stronger background check laws (via Bloomberg):

Joe Biden said he was vice president when the deadly high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, took place. Except, it happened in 2018, more than a year after he left office -- the latest gaffe by the Democratic presidential front-runner.

Biden told reporters in Iowa on Saturday that “those kids in Parkland came up to see me when I was vice president.” But when they visited Capitol Hill to talk with members of Congress, lawmakers were “basically cowering, not wanting to see them. They did not want to face it on camera.”

The former vice president was making a point about the changing conversation around gun violence in this country, and how as more and more ordinary people are touched by mass shootings, they are more likely to call for action.

Yeah, there’s a reason why Joe Biden was never a frontrunner when he ran for president in years past. Now that he is, well, he’s facing attacks on all sides. The second night of CNN’s debate with the 2020 Democratic field saw the former VP besieged and subjected to an unprecedented amount of Obama bashing, which shows how lost this party is right now. These clowns think they can outmaneuver one another on the debate stage and the delegate count…by bashing one of the most popular Democrats in recent memory. President Trump was surely watching, saying that the former VP "doesn't have a clue."

Either way, we should expect more of these Biden gaffes to occur. The man has a serious case of diarrhea of the mouth—and that hasn’t changed.
