Nancy Pelosi: I Wont’ Trash Ocasio-Cortez For Her Idiotic Concentration Camp Remarks…Because The GOP Might Have Lied About It

Well, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) caused House Democrats a lot of heartburn over her past anti-Semitic antics. It led to a fiasco over a non-binding resolution condemning hate, which some Democrats felt singled Omar out. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi might say that the Omar-Ocasio-Cortez faction of the caucus is small, but they sure have clout. A large swath of the 2020 field has backed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) Green New Deal. What the Omar situation has shown is that Pelosi is either incapable or unwilling to get her rowdy members under control.

Now, Ocasio-Cortez has decided to deliver another hot take: we have concentration camps at the southern border or something. Tim has more:

And that the fact that concentration camps are now an institutionalized practice in the home of the free is extraordinarily disturbing. And we need to do something about it," Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez explained.

"This week immigrant children were moved to the same internment camps where the Japanese were held in the early twentieth century," she continued.

[…]

As AOC told her followers, "This is not even about a crisis, this is not just about the immigrant community being held in concentration camps and if America will actually remain America, or if we are losing to an authoritarian and fascist presidency."

"I don't use those words lightly, I don't use those words to just throw bombs. I use that word because that is what an administration that creates concentration camps is," she remarks before getting back to putting together a chair.

Well, folks, AOC must have missed the part where Obama used two former Japanese internment camps to hold detained illegal aliens. The Left has an addiction to calling their enemies Nazis or Hitler. We all know this. Bush was Hitler, the GOP is Hitler, and Trump is Hitler. It’s becoming a joke—and this isn’t something to take lightly. Even Ms. Ocasio-Cortez knows this; so just quit it. And these remarks should be roundly rejected and flayed for all to see. It’s ridiculous, but Pelosi, ever so cautious as to not irk the far left wing of her party, has refused to condemn AOC for her shoddy Nazi reference at the Christian Science Monitor breakfast. The Daily Mail’s Emily Goodin asked her about it:

Emily Goodin: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is under fire again for some comments she made about concentration camps. I'm wondering if you've talked to some of the freshman members about the power of their words and the use of their social media and what you're thinking of all this back and forth?

Nancy Pelosi: These members of Congress are, they come and represent their districts and their point of view and they take responsibility for the statements that they make. I'm not up to date on her most recent one; I saw something in the news. But, I – no I haven't spoken to her about that. I do have some comments to make to my caucus writ large about the political nature of how politically charged the atmosphere is so, understand that while the Republicans have no interest in holding the president accountable for his words, they will misrepresent anything that you say just if you have one word in the sentence that they can exploit.

With Omar, Pelosi pretty much said she was too dumb to know what she was saying. For AOC, it’s the GOP might have lied about it.
