Detroit Police Chief Breaks With Liberal Narrative On Armed Teachers: Yeah, Some Should Be Packing

Well, scores of teachers in Ohio signed up for a free gun-training course in order to obtain their concealed carry permits. Now, in Detroit, Michigan, the police chief is conceding that some teachers should be armed (via WXYZ, local ABC outlet):

Detroit Police Chief James Craig has echoed President Donald Trump’s sentiments that some teachers should be armed.

Craig told WXYZ Thursday that he stressed only “some” teachers should be armed. He’s referring to teachers who have military or specialized training.

“There needs to be a vetting process. That’s all I’m saying,” Craig emphasized.

Arming teachers, or having more armed guards at schools to provide security, has been an initiative supported by the National Rifle Association. Some schools already have such a policy in place. Discussions about gun control and school safety emerged after Nikolas Cruz shot and killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14. It seems more people seem open to the idea, despite anti-gun liberals saying this plan is nuts. Some put forward a proposal to hire former members of the military to provide armed security at our schools.
