French Dodge a Bullet?

Sarkozy's election shows just how bad things are in France.  Don't get me wrong -- they are very lucky to have elected him.  In fact, I believe Royal's socialistic policies may have led the already struggling economy into collapse.  My point is that, under normal circumstances, the French would have chosen Royal.  The fact that they didn't shows me just how desperate the French are to turn things around.  Who knows, they may soon be working a 38-hour work week?
