Earlier this month, Townhall reported how French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced that all pro-Palestine protests would be banned in response to Hamas’ attack on Israel, which began Oct. 7.

Shortly after, German Chancellor Townhall Olaf Scholz declared a "zero tolerance" policy of anti-Semitism. This week, the country’s interior minister, Nancy Faesar, said that Hamas supporters should be deported.

"If we are able to deport Hamas supporters, we must do this," Faeser stated after discussions with officials at the Federal Criminal Police Office.

"Our security authorities have currently placed an even stronger focus on the Islamist scene." she added.

However, this week, In the United States, one city became the first to pass a resolution condemning Israel over the ongoing conflict.

According to the New York Post, the Richmond City Council passed a resolution on Wednesday accusing Israel of committing “ethnic cleansing and collective punishment” against Palestinians.

Reportedly, council members overwhelmingly supported the resolution after an “hours-long meeting that finally ended around 1 a.m. – to chants of ‘Free, free Palestine!’”

The resolution states that what Israel is doing “is considered a war crime under international law” and calls for “immediate humanitarian ceasefire and the safe passage of substantial humanitarian aid to Gaza,” as well as an “end to Israeli apartheid and the occupation and blockade of Palestinian land by Israeli military forces.”

“The city of Richmond opposes all existing and future military aid to Israel,” it concluded.

Reportedly, the meeting kicked off with someone called Richmond Mayor Eduardo Martinez a “Nazi” because the resolution is anti-semitic.

"There has not been one single word that says we are against the Jewish people," Martinez stated, according to Fox News. "If it sounds one-sided, it's because it voices a narrative that has been ignored."

“I reject the notion that speaking out against Israeli military and right-wing government is antisemitic,” Martinez added. “We should never stay silent when it comes to any group.”

One councilmember, Cesar Zepeda, voted against the resolution.

“Let’s call out the atrocities that Hamas has done on the Israel communities and the atrocities the Israeli government has done on the Palestinian people,” he suggested.

Some members of the community spoke out against the resolution.

"I'm a Richmond resident and of Jewish heritage. I totally oppose this resolution because it is full of lies that will only incentivize the Hamas Nazi terrorists and their supporters and add to the suffering of the poor Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank for decades," one resident said, adding that "this resolution supports the goals of the Palestinian dictatorships to kill all Jews and destroy Israel."

"Please vote no on this resolution," another woman said. "Do not greenlight the endless attempts to kill more Jews."
