Ivanka Wasn't Expecting the 'Level of Viciousness' of Her Father's Critics

Ivanka Trump appeared on Fox News’s “Fox and Friends” Monday morning and weighed in on everything from former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony to commenting on her father's critics.

“There’s a level of viciousness that I was not expecting,” Ivanka said. “I was not expecting the intensity of this experience.”

But, given the drastic changes her father hoped to bring to Washington, she knew the experience would not be an easy one.

“This isn’t supposed to be easy,” she added. “My father, and this administration, expects to be transformative.”

President Trump has faced fierce backlash from Democrats on nearly every agenda item he's pursued. Some in the party have even repeatedly called for his impeachment. But the criticism has taken some dark turns, including the recent stunt by comedian Kathy Griffin appearing in a photograph holding a severed head of the president.

It’s not surprising, then, that Ivanka said she was “a little blindsided … on a personal level … [by] some of the distractions and some of the ferocity.”

Regarding Comey’s testimony about her father’s campaign’s alleged ties to Russia, Ivanka said he “felt very vindicated in all the statements that he’s been making and feels incredibly optimistic.”

“[We’re] incredibly focused on the reason we all went to Washington and what we’re fighting for,” she added.
