MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough slammed President Obama on Monday for ‘rigging’ the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s improper use of a private email server by commenting on the case in an interview with Fox News Sunday.
Scarborough said Obama made “a fool” of FBI Director James Comey, who he noted is “killing himself to run a fair investigation.”
Obama said on Sunday that he does not believe Clinton put America’s national security at risk.
“What I also know, because I handle a lot of classified information, is that there are -- there’s classified, and then there’s classified,” explained Obama, putting emphasis on the second use of ‘classified.’ “There’s stuff that is really top secret, top secret, and there’s stuff that is being presented to the president or the secretary of state that you might not want on the transom or going out over the wire but is basically stuff that you could get in open-source.”
Commenting on the investigation in this manner suggests to Comey that his investigation doesn’t matter, Scarborough said—that Lady Justice isn’t blindfolded because the president is “tipping the scales.”
“A criminal investigation is being rigged,” Scarborough declared.
Co-host Mika Brzezinski also said Obama's comments amount to an endorsement of her.
Bloomberg’s John Heilemann agreed, noting that Obama essentially put “his finger on the scale in terms of Hillary Clinton versus Bernie Sanders.”
