Christie Slams Rubio Over Missed Votes

“Washington's leadership has created another massive spending bill in secret and rammed it through Congress, hoping that the American people don't notice or have become numb to this kind of business as usual,” Sen. Marco Rubio said in a press release after the Dec. 18 approval of a $1.1 trillion spending bill. “This is what a broken Washington looks like under President Obama and what Congress reverts to without conservative presidential leadership. While stopping ObamaCare's taxpayer-funded bailout of insurance companies is an important win, I strongly oppose this bill because it keeps spending money that we don't have, grows our debt, and concedes far too many of President Obama's and liberal Democrats' big government spending priorities.”

Based on the above statement you’d think Rubio was so opposed to it that he at least did his part and showed up to vote no, right? Wrong.

Speaking at a town hall event in Iowa on Tuesday, Gov. Chris Christie called the Florida senator out for it.

“[Rubio] matters as much as I do, and I don’t have a vote in the Senate. He has one and didn’t go,” Christie said. “Only in Washington could you have the guts to say I’m against something that you have a vote to vote ‘no’ on and then just not go and then put out a press release after it gets passed to say, ‘this is why I was opposed to it’.”

“Well, dude, show up to work and vote no, right?” Christie continued. “Just show up to work and vote no, and if you don’t want to, then quit.”

Since April, when Rubio announced he was throwing his hat in the 2016 presidential ring, the senator has missed 95 votes, according to GovTrack.us
