House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) defended Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) Thursday evening when he made some disparaging remarks about her IQ level during a rally with his supporters, calling them.

Rep. Waters told her supporters at a rally last month that "if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere."

Pelosi initially chided Waters for those remarks saying in response to them, "Trump's daily lack of civility has provoked responses that are predictable but unacceptable. As we go forward, we must conduct elections in a way that achieves unity from sea to shining sea."

Earlier this week, A group of black women leaders senta letter to Democratic leadership decrying their “failure to protect” Waters against criticism from Trump and his supporters.

Pelosi responded to their letter Wednesday by saying that Waters was “valued” and Trump should stop his verbal attacks.

"Congresswoman Maxine Waters is a valued leader whose passionate call for family reunification should be heard without any threats to her safety," she said.

"Donald Trump has sullied the bully pulpit with reckless disregard for the safety of others," she added. "He should stop his attacks on Congresswoman Waters and all Members of Congress, the free press, and all Americans who have the right and the responsibility to speak their minds."
