Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) followed former DNC Chairwoman Donna Brazile’s lead Thursday and walked back her assertions last week that the Democratic primary was rigged to favor Hillary Clinton. Her new story is that there is just “some bias” at the DNC but the primary was fair.
When asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper last week whether she agreed that the process had been “rigged” in Clinton’s favor, she answered simply “yes.”
On PBS NewsHour later that same day, Warren responded “I think it was” when asked directly if the election was rigged.
However, in an interview Thursday Warren said, "I agree with what Donna Brazile has said over the last few days; that while there was some bias at the DNC, the overall 2016 primary process was fair and Hillary made history."
Although Brazile is also now claiming that the primary was fair, an excerpt of her book published last week in Politico suggests otherwise.
"I had promised Bernie when I took the helm of the Democratic National Committee after the convention that I would get to the bottom of whether Hillary Clinton’s team had rigged the nomination process, as a cache of emails stolen by Russian hackers and posted online had suggested," Brazile wrote.
"By September 7, the day I called Bernie, I had found my proof and it broke my heart," she concluded just a few paragraphs later.

“The funding arrangement with HFA and the victory fund agreement was not illegal, but it sure looked unethical,” she concluded further down. “If the fight had been fair, one campaign would not have control of the party before the voters had decided which one they wanted to lead. This was not a criminal act, but as I saw it, it compromised the party’s integrity.”
Hillary Clinton responded very briefly to the allegations Wednesday evening arguing it “just wasn’t the case” that her campaign had unfair influence at the DNC.
