Ted Cruz: El Chapo Should Pay For The Border Wall

There has been much debate in Washington about how to pay for President Trump's famous, and infamous, border wall. Will Mexico pay for it? What about American taxpayers paying for it now, and being repaid by Mexico later? Why build a wall at all? Especially at a cost of $21 billion?

Senator Ted Cruz has a solution: Confiscate all of drug lord El Chapo Guzman's assets, amounting to $14 billion, and use them to pay for the wall.

“The Democrats are threatening government shutdown because they are so opposed to finally securing our border,” Sen. Cruz said during an interview Wednesday with Fox and Friends. “So I have been trying to think about 'how can we get this done?' So yesterday I filed the EL CHAPO Act that provides that if El Chapo, the famed Mexican drug lord, is convicted, that his criminal assets go directly to building a wall and to securing the border and keeping our country safe.”

El Chapo was extradited to the United States for federal prosecution earlier this year after a number of escapes from prison in Mexico. He is responsible for the murder of thousands of Mexico citizens.
