Poll: Americans Are Accepting That Mexico Isn't Paying For The Border Wall

According to a new survey from Pew Research, the majority of Democrats and most Republican voters do not believe Mexico will ultimately pay for President Trump's wall on the southern border:

When asked about Mexico's payment during a POLITICO Playbook breakfast in Washington Thursday morning, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell laughed at the idea.

Estimates peg the border wall at a cost between $15-20 billion. Hundreds of construction companies, including over a dozen Hispanic-American owned companies, have submitted bids for the massive project.

President Trump repeatedly promised on the campaign trail Mexico would pay for the wall, either directly or indirectly. The White House reiterated Thursday afternoon that the wall is happening, despite border crossing dropping by 40 percent under President Trump's short tenure.
