Five Things To Watch For In President Trump's First Joint Session of Congress Address

President Donald Trump and White House speech writers are putting the final touches on tonight's address to a Joint Session of Congress and the American people. Here are five things to watch for:

Obamacare Repeal

For eight years Republicans have promised the American people a complete repeal of Obamacare. Tonight President Trump will call on Republicans to move toward fulfilling that promise in a way that keeps the political heat on Democrats for passing the legislation in the first place.

Spending Priorities

President Trump will officially submit his budget plan to Congress on March 13, in the meantime we're learning about some of his spending priorities. Yesterday during a speech to the nation's governors at the White House, Trump outlined a $54 billion request for defense spending. The White House later detailed funding for the increase will come from other federal agencies.

New Space Exploration

President Donald Trump will reportedly call for the return of manned U.S. missions to space during his first State of the Union Address to the nation Tuesday night. Last month, the Trump Administration requested a plan from NASA about how to put a man back on the moon by 2022.

Illegal Immigration and Border Security

President Trump will bring three families whose loved ones were killed by illegal immigrants with extensive criminal histories as his guests tonight. He will no doubt reiterate the need for interior enforcement and call on Congress to fund a border wall. According to preliminary reports, the President may also issue a request for Congress to come up with a comprehensive immigration bill to include a path to legalization for those in the country illegally without a violent criminal history.

Crime and Law Enforcement

President Trump will also bring widows of law enforcement officers to sit with First Lady Melania Trump during his State of the Union address, further emphasizing his pro-police agenda.
