Well, Look Who's Sending Troops To The Border

It's President Barack Obama, who caved in the face of e Republican push to vote on whether to deploy troops to the U.S.- Mexican border. Obama will request $500 million to pay for the efforts.

The National Guard troops will work on intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support, analysis and training, and support efforts blocking drug trafficking. The troops will temporarily supplement border patrol agents until Customs and Border Patrol can recruit and train additional officers and agents to serve on the border, the administration official said.

Guess who's taking credit? Not Arizona Republican Sens. John McCain or Jon Kyl, but Democratic Representative Gabrielle Giffords (Ariz.), who has until this moment been silent on the issue. Way to co-opt a political opportunity.
