Gallup's most recent poll says that 40% of Americans support gay marriage and 57% of Americans don't.

Support seems to have leveled out after an increasing number of people showed their support for the practice. In 1997, 27% supported gay marriage, and 68% didn't, but for the past for years, the number for it and against it has remained roughly the same.
