Obama Calls Himself the Underdog in 2012

As my coworker Kate Hicks says, this is an interesting characterization from a man whose campaign could reportedly raise $1 billion for the 2012 election cycle:

"President Barack Obama said Monday that Americans aren't better off than they were four years ago as the struggling economy and high unemployment have taken a toll. Looking ahead to next year's election, the incumbent called himself the underdog in the 2012 presidential campaign though he said he doesn't mind the label. The Democrat said it's a role that he is used to," the AP reported. (Emphasis added.)

True, polling has shown a generic Republican could beat Obama, but right now, the actual Republican candidates aren't quite there yet. If Obama wants to be considered an underdog, here's other contests he could participate in where that label would actually apply:

NBA All-Star game

Dancing With the Stars

Balancing a Budget

The Apprentice

The X-Factor (suggested by Kate Hicks)

Top Shot

WipeOut (suggested by Daniel Doherty)

And please, will someone invite the president to sit down and watch Rudy to understand the true meaning of underdog?
