Michael Flynn's legal team claims that they have new evidence that will exonerate their client. According to the former national security adviser's attorney Sidney Powell, the new materials, from U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri Jeffrey Jensen, prove that the FBI "framed" Flynn and they will seek to overturn his perjury conviction.
In 2017 Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to investigators about his connection with Russian ambassador Sergey I. Kislyak. He later backtracked on the plea deal and his team says the government knowingly withheld exculpatory evidence in the case.
“Since August 2016 at the latest, partisan FBI and DOJ leaders conspired to destroy Mr. Flynn,” Ms. Powell said. “These documents show in their own handwriting and emails that they intended either to create an offense they could prosecute or at least get him fired.”
"It's about time that some of this comes out," Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) said during an interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo.

"This is nothing more than an unveiling...of a corrupt cabal wanting to get candidate Trump and then President Trump," Collins added. "This is nothing more than confirmation of what we've seen before."

The congressman went on to claim that former FBI director James Comey and FBI agents like Peter Strzok went "rogue" to destroy a candidate and a president that they didn't like. He said any U.S. citizen should be disturbed by this.
Collins said this is only further proof that Congress needs to update the FISA process when it's reauthorized.
