Kid Rock 'Announces' Senate Run on Twitter

Musician Kid Rock appeared to confirm speculation that he will be running for U.S. Senate in Michigan in 2018. On Twitter, Kid Rock said that the website "KidRockForSenate.com" was "absolutely" real, and tweeted a picture of a Kid Rock campaign sign. (UPDATE: Given that the site is operated by Warner Brothers, it's unknown if this is actually real.)

"I have had a ton of emails and texts asking me if this website is real... The answer is an absolute YES."

Right now, the website is rather sparse, with only a link to purchase "Kid Rock for U.S. Senate" apparel as well as a graphic alternating between "I'll rock the party," "Welcome to the party," and "you've never met a politician quite like me," among other things.

Kid Rock, who's birth name is Robert Ritchie, has been a longtime Republican and supporter of Republican candidates. He endorsed Ben Carson in 2015, before eventually supporting Donald Trump. Kid Rock has also permitted numerous Republican politicians to use his songs during their campaigns. The idea of his potential candidacy for Senate was first reported back in February of 2017.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) is up for reelection in 2018. Stabenow was first elected to the Senate in 2000 and is currently the chairwoman of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee.

Only God Knows Why Kid Rock would leave a successful music career to enter the Cold and Empty world of politics, but Times Like These are certainly interesting. Regardless, it doesn't appear as though Kid Rock is going to be Wasting Time with a half-hearted run. The Upside to all of this is that the Son of Detroit is certainly going to make for one interesting candidate--the Senate has definitely Never Met A Motherf-cker Quite Like (Him).
