Officer Injured In Congressional Baseball Shooting Throws First Pitch At Congressional Women's Softball Game

Some uplifting news for your Thursday afternoon: Crystal Griner, one of the members of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise's security detail who was injured in last week's shooting, threw out the first pitch at Wednesday's Congressional Women's Softball Game. Griner threw out the pitch from a wheelchair, as she is still recovering from being shot in the ankle. She is expected to eventually make a full recovery and was recently released from the hospital.

The Congressional Women's Softball Game has been played since each year since 2009 and features a team of Congresswomen against a team of members of the media. The game raises money for the Young Survival Coalition, a breast cancer charity.

A GoFundMe for Griner's recovery has raised over $28,000.
