Hillary Clinton Is Apparently Done With Running For Office

Late last week, reports began swirling that Hillary Clinton was considering a run for mayor of New York City. Apparently, that's not going to happen any time soon, and according to one Hillary insider, she's done with running for office altogether.

Appearing on CNN over the weekend, Neera Tanden, President & CEO of the Center for American Progress, said that Hillary Clinton would not be running for mayor of NYC or any other office in the foreseeable future, and would instead focus her efforts on helping children and their families.

While that response sounded more than a little canned, I'm inclined to believe it. Hillary is rapidly approaching her 70s, and let's be honest, she's not as healthy as she has been. She's got two young grandchildren who would probably like to spend some time with their grandparents--and I wouldn't blame her if she steps back entirely.

There is, however, the issue of the incredibly short bench for the Democrats. Short of an Obama 2.0 coming out of nowhere, they really don't have many solid contenders for roles on a national scale, meaning that they'll effectively have to rely on the septuagenarians like Clinton, Joe Biden, etc.

That being said, it makes the most sense that Hillary Clinton is done running for office. After snatching defeat from the jaws of victory twice over a decade, it's probably the best for everyone if she calls it a day.
