More on the Mosque

I happened to catch Sullivan on the radio yesterday, calling in to Michael Medved's show. Those on the left who would impugn the motives of the Americans who are (rightly) appalled at the prospect of building a mosque on the constructive graves of 3000 Americans should have heard him. He offered to put together the best construction crew in New York to build the mosque . . . anywhere but at Ground Zero. To me, he sounded like the regular Americans despised by our "ruling class": Decent, sensible, big-hearted.

Meanwhile, the "intellectual elite" journals who support the mosque's construction remain politely reluctant to ask any questions of Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, one of the organizers of the proposed center, as Cliff May points out.

And the President, who is willing to weigh in on everything from the need for college football playoffs to the importance of eating your vegetables remains stubbornly silent on the controversy, the 2010 iteration of voting "present."
