Melissa Harris-Perry Tweets Apology to Romney Family

"I am sorry. Without reservation or qualification. I apologize to the Romney family," tweeted MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, with the hashtag #MHPapology.

The anchor’s abashed apology comes after she insensitively mocked Mitt Romney and his family’s decision to adopt a black grandson. At one point, she joked that his grandson, Kieran, could marry North West, the daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, while one of her fellow panelists quipped in song, “One of these things is not like the others.”

Harris-Perry’s comments are doubly condescending considering she herself was raised in a similar situation to Kieran Romney.

What do you think? Is she sincere?

Whether Harris-Perry is truly sorry or not, the network she works for seems to be one big apology lately. MSNBC’s Martin Bashir resigned after his horrid statements suggesting someone should defecate in Sarah Palin’s mouth.

While Harris-Perry’s apology message got hundreds of retweets, not all social media users were so impressed with her “self-serving” strategy and suggested a better option.
