Wyatt Scott is the Hero Canada Needs Right Now

Behold, the best campaign ad I've ever seen, ever:

My name is Wyatt Scott and I'm running for parliament as an independent candidate for Mission Matsqui Fraser Canyon. We all know politics are corrupt so lets[sic] do something about it. Put an independent in the house.

I'm sure I'm missing a few things, but I'm pretty sure this is the first campaign ad in the history of the universe to feature:

  • A giant Canada goose
  • A dragon being stabbed through the skull
  • An alien shaking hands with the candidate
  • Pot leaves
  • The stone ball from Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • A rapidly-growing beard
  • Lasers shooting out of the candidates' eyes and destroying a robot

Incredible.

Despite the pageantry and absolutely absurd/amazing campaign ad, Wyatt Scott appears to be a real candidate and has a detailed explanation of his platform positions and beliefs on his website. (Which is more than some American candidates can say.) Scott wants to focus on improving Canada's economy and support the agricultural sector, as well as implementing universal post-secondary education.

This might be the most genius campaign move I've ever seen. Canada's eleven-week campaign season means that candidates have to work fast to get their names out there. What better way to do this, especially as an independent candidate without a party's support, than by making the most epically designed-to-go-viral campaign ad of all time? Brilliant.

Canada's elections will be held on October 19.
