Elon Musk hit CNN early Thursday morning for reporting that ventilators the CEO of Tesla promised to distribute throughout California had not been delivered to hospitals.

“Elon Musk and his team told the state that he had procured ventilators and wanted to distribute them directly to hospitals with shortages,” an unnamed spokesperson from California Gov. Gavin Newsom's Office of Emergency Services said, CNN reported. “The Administration is communicating every day with hospitals across the state about their ventilator supply and to date we have not heard of any hospital system that has received a ventilator directly from Tesla or Musk.”

Replying to the story, Musk said, “What I find most surprising is that CNN still exists.” He then asked Gov. Gavin Newsom to fix the misunderstanding.

Since the “most trusted name in news” didn’t bother to do any fact-finding, Musk provided hospital tweets and email screenshots as proof that he followed through on his word.
