With the 2018 midterm elections just weeks away, the last thing any candidate for Congress wants, on either side of the political aisle, is an "October Surprise." Unfortunately for Kyrsten Sinema, the Democratic candidate running for Senate in the state of Arizona, she's had several.
Sinema's old tweets and videos of past speeches are beginning to surface, and they appear to reveal her true thoughts and feelings about Arizonans and the state in which she is seeking election.

She also called Arizonans "crazy." That's certainly not the best strategy to win over potential voters.

To add insult to injury, Sinema had to give up nearly $2,000 in campaign donations that came from an attorney by the name of Sal Rivera. Law enforcement has charged Rivera with sexual assault. Sinema will be giving the funds to the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence. Not a good day for her, some may say.
The winner of the Arizona Senate race will fill the seat currently held by Republican Senator Jeff Flake, as he is set to retire at the end of this year.
Sinema's opponent, Republican Congresswoman Martha McSally, has been gaining in the polls as of late. What looked like a steady two to three point lead for Sinema is now up in the air. McSally, an Air Force veteran who retired at the rank of colonel and a member of Congress since 2015, may see another boost in her polling numbers as the president will soon visit the state to campaign on her behalf.
Other prominent Republicans that have endorsed McSally are former President George W. Bush and former Massachusetts Gov. and current Utah Senate candidate Mitt Romney.
Republicans are looking to maintain their majorities in both the House and Senate this November. There are several races that people are keeping an eye on and Arizona is definitely one of them.
With Republican Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn pulling away from her Democratic opponent in the Tennessee Senate race, Republican incumbent Dean Heller of Nevada holding a slight lead over his Senate opponent, and now this good news for Republicans coming out of Arizona, the GOP has the potential to maintain all of its Senate seats.
As there are several Red State Democratic Senators that are vulnerable this election cycle, Republicans have a chance to not only keep their Senate majority but increase it.
