That is quite the accomplishment for Seattle’s mayor, and I don’t mean that in a good way. How can you screw up this badly? Well, maybe the shambolic way the city handled the July 26 shooting at the Bite of Seattle food festival, where the city’s emergency alert system was not activated, it's now-former police chief wasn’t even in the city, and the media waited hours for a shoddy update, where state and federal officials were initially blamed but later said were not informed of a press conference on the night of that terrible incident. Someone issued the delay—either the police or the mayor’s office.

Either way, it was a disaster in crisis management and media handling. Residents didn’t know whether to shelter in place, whether the suspect was on the loose, or the shooter’s description — nothing. Everyone was truly on their own, and it’s not shocking that this would happen since Mayor Katie Wilson has never run anything. So, in left-wing Seattle, 52 percent of Democrats want her out. She holds a 22 percent job approval rating (via The Post Millennial):

Two separate polls released this week show Seattle voters souring dramatically on Socialist Mayor Katie Wilson just months into her first year in office, with one finding two-thirds disapprove of her job performance and another showing that a majority of voters—including Democrats—want her to resign or removed from the position.

A new Change Washington poll conducted August 13-17 found only 22 percent of Seattle registered voters approve of Wilson's job performance, while 66 percent disapprove and 12 percent are unsure.

Even more damaging for the progressive mayor, 60 percent said Wilson should resign or be removed from office, compared with 30 percent who said she should remain and 10 percent who were unsure.

Those findings are reinforced by a separate poll conducted by Fulcrum Strategy Group for the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce days earlier. That survey of 500 registered Seattle voters, conducted August 10-13, found Wilson's favorability had fallen to 37 percent, down from 57 percent in April, a 20-point collapse in four months. Sixty-two percent now view Wilson unfavorably, including 42 percent who view her strongly unfavorably.

If you’re sucking in leftist Seattle, you’re truly terrible. The suspect in the shooting, 15, has been charged with first-degree assault and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. Three people were killed in the shooting, and another five were wounded.
