Alright, folks. That's all for the live blog for this year's State of the Union. It was a torrential downpour of lies, and we'll have plenty of analysis and fact-checks in the coming days. It was an avalanche of gross dishonesty, but that's the Democratic Party in 2023.

Donald Trump issues official response to Biden's SOTU:

"Here's the real State of the Union. Over the past two years under Biden, millions and millions of illegal aliens from 160 different countries have stormed across our Southern border. Drug cartels are now raking in billions of dollars from smuggling poison to kill our people and to kill our children. Savage killers, rapists and violent criminals are being released from jail to continue their crime wave and under Biden the murder rate has reached the highest in the history of our country.

Biden and the radical Democrats have wasted trillions of dollars and caused the worst inflation in half a century. Real wages are down 21 months in a row. Gas prices have soared and are now going up much higher than even before and the typical American family is paying $2,200 in increased energy and food costs each year.

Joe Biden's weaponized Justice Department, and I'm a victim of it, is persecuting his political opponents. His administration is waging war on free speech. They're trying to indoctrinate and mutilate our children. He's leading us to the brink of World War III. And on top of all of that, he's the most corrupt president in American history, and it's not even close.

But the good news is we are going to reverse every single crisis, calamity and disaster that Joe Biden has created. I am running for President to end the destruction of our country and to complete the unfinished business of Making America Great Again. We will make our country better than ever before, and we will always put America First. Thank you."

New U.S. Senator from Missouri Eric Schmitt chimes in:

"President Biden’s spin on the state of our union does not reflect the difficult reality Missouri families, farmers, ranchers, and small businesses face every day. High prices on necessary goods and services, a wide open southern border, and a Chinese spy asset flying in American airspace for days demonstrates the utter lack of leadership from the White House. Joe Biden must take responsibility for his failures - budget gimmicks and empty promises don’t help the single mother working to provide for her kids, or the farmer that is struggling to keep his generational farm afloat. Make no mistake about it: Missourians are hurting because of Joe Biden’s policies."

Reaction from Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA):

"The state of our union is record high inflation, open borders, and letting China walk all over us. Rather than lay out a plan to restore our economy for everyone, keep our families safe, and stand up for American values, President Biden doubled down on his last two years of failed policies that hurt regular people to appease the most radical wing of his party. I will continue to push back against policies that harm Iowans, stand up for families, farmers, and small businesses, and work to deliver a badly needed dose of Iowa common sense to Washington, DC. While we have many serious disagreements, I was heartened to hear that President Biden wants to continue to improve mental health services for veterans – I stand ready to work with him in a bipartisan manner to do so."

House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) issued the following statement on President Biden’s “State of the Union” address:

“President Biden is filled with more hot air than the China spy balloon. Deflate the rhetoric and the facts reveal President Biden’s policies have created crises on every front. Children are years behind in learning because the Biden Administration allowed the teachers unions to keep schools closed. Americans are paying more for everything because of sky-high inflation created by Democrats’ spending binge. We have the worst border crisis in American history because of this administration’s radical open borders agenda. And foreign adversaries, like China, are emboldened because of the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.

“The good news for the American people is that unchecked, one-party Democrat control in Washington is over. Republicans are conducting oversight of the Biden Administration and will hold this administration accountable for its many self-inflicted crises that are harming the American people.”
