Robert Pattinson will star as Batman in Warner Brothers's latest retelling of the DC comic.
Warner Bros. selected Pattinson over actor Nicolas Hoult and intends to sign Pattinson for a 3-movie franchise. The first installment of the series, The Batman, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25, 2021, and will be directed by Matt Reeves (known for War for the Planet of the Apes).
The film will focus on Bruce Wayne in his formative years, hence why Pattinson was chosen as Warner Bros. wanted an actor in his early 30s.
Pattinson has an impressive filmography. Although known for his role as the vampire Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga, Pattinson has shown his acting prowess in films such as High Life, Good Time, and The Lost City of Z. He is set to star in Christopher Nolan’s next film, Tenet, and just debuted in Robert Eggers’ film, The Lighthouse, at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
The reaction to Pattinson’s casting was largely positive.

Other Twitter users agreed.
I'm watching more Robert Pattinson films and I'm saying this now...the dude is completely underrated and his range of acting (particularly between The Rover and Good Time) is unreal.

Pattinson's Lighthouse co-star, Willem Dafoe, also offered Pattinson praise, saying "he's got a strong chin."
What does Willem Dafoe think of his #TheLighthouse co-star Robert Pattinson playing #Batman? “He’s got a strong chin. That’s a part of it. Can you imagine anyone with a weak chin ever playing Batman? I don’t think so" https://t.co/OGkuYYdo9u pic.twitter.com/EHULePxPZs
