Tucker Carlson runs to the fish wrap of record to share his distorted view of the world.

I got a laugh from the report that Tucker Carlson has a total of 7,300 paid subscribers. That’s about 7,200 more than I would have expected. This news came following the report that many of his followers live outside of the United States, where his brand of anti-Trump, anti-Israel, antisemitism is popular. Reports around the time when the Iran War started had his interviews being shown by Mullah TV in Tehran.

Carlson is an extraordinary shape-shifting dissembler. He is not bound by reality and may even have overcome the laws of gravity. In The Times interview, he made disingenuous claims:

- He claimed that he regretted interviewing Nick Fuentes, as he had wanted to focus on the Iran War. The war started several months after the actual Fuentes interview.

- He said that Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz—both religious Christians—were worse than Hitler-lover and Stalin aficionado Fuentes.

- He claimed that he never made a certain statement about President Trump when he had. Even having his words read back to him made no impact on Carlson, who played the fool as if he did not know the source of his own statements.

- He claimed that Israel was in South Lebanon to grab more land, oblivious to the daily attacks on Israeli civilians in the north, something that the IDF and Israel government wish to end for good.

- He once again tried to sell the used goods that Bibi Netanyahu and “his people” in the U.S. forced Donald Trump into a war against Iran.

Picture a certain football player not bound by the rules of the league. After he is clearly tackled and whistled down, he calmly gets up and keeps running. After failing to make a first down on fourth-and-one, he calls for another snap, when the ball should go to the other team. Tucker Carlson would be that player. He is no doubt still sore that Huckabee made him look like the Jew-hating fool he is during their meeting at Ben Gurion Airport—Carlson refused to enter Israel proper either out of loathing or some invented fear for his safety. When the current U.S. ambassador to Israel pointed out the fivefold growth of the Christian community in Israel, Carlson demanded to know which borders were involved. Huckabee said pre-1967 Israel, meaning that the number of Christians has grown in “old Israel” while going down significantly in every Middle Eastern country around her borders. Carlson had no answer and simply gave up on the line of questioning and moved to a different topic. Claiming that Israel is bad for Christians is key to Carlson’s efforts to hijack (in parallel to Fuentes) TPUSA from Charlie and now Erika Kirk. Almost every TPUSA event with some high-powered host like Vice President JD Vance or some of the Trump children involves a question from a college kid about Israel being bad for Christians. Carlson and others have peddled this thinking, claiming that Israel intentionally attacked churches in Gaza and that it willfully mistreats Christians in the country. The fact is the opposite, and when a renegade IDF soldier destroyed a Christian statue in Lebanon, he was arrested, and the statue was immediately replaced by the army. The Israeli leadership condemned the soldier’s actions.

The idea that Israel and the U.S. could both benefit from Iran without a nuclear bomb bothers people like Carlson. Their claim that Bibi pushed Trump to start the war is beyond ridiculous. Donald Trump for decades is on record as opposing the Islamic regime and has often said that Iran cannot have a bomb. The mullahs cannot get over their pride and give up on the bomb; that would show weakness and that the West is in the driver’s seat. What is amazing is that if the Iranian leaders, whoever they are for the next few hours, were to give in on the bomb, Trump would simply leave them alone to continue destroying their country and killing their people. He is looking solely at U.S. interests (as he should), and if he actually got what he wanted, he would send the fleet home. Israel, the Gulf states,  and the Iranian people would be left to wonder how to deal with a wounded but still dangerous lunatic leadership. Trump was not pushed by Bibi or Dr. Miriam Adelson. Donald Trump made up his own mind, and the fact that Israel and the U.S. have been working so well together drives Carlson bonkers. He has said that he regrets backing Trump and feels an enormous responsibility for telling others to vote for him. He can always help Kamala as she gears up to run in 2028. It’s never too late to be a penitent.

Israel first went to war in southern Lebanon in 1980 in Operation Peace for Galilee. The presence of the PLO, expelled from Jordan, made life in Israel’s north difficult. Israel moved up to Beirut, and after Arafat and his men left under U.N. protection, Israel kept a buffer zone in the south. Israel never annexed the region, and under Ehud Barak, the IDF pulled out completely. Another war was fought in 2006, and the present fighting is directly related to Hezbollah continuing its attacks via rockets and anti-tank missiles on northern Israeli communities. Their most recent weapon is wire-guided drones. Israel has never expressed any interest in annexing a single square foot of Lebanon and only wants quiet for the citizens in the north. Is this so much to ask? But, in typical fashion, Carlson twists Israel’s purely defensive efforts in South Lebanon into a colonial land grab so as to make Iran look like the good guy against Trump and Bibi. And Megyn Kelly said that The Times article was excellent. Of course she would.

Carlson’s repeated attacks against Mike Huckabee are scurrilous. Carlson has stated that he hates “Christian Zionists” because he feels that they give a legitimacy to Israel that he believes should not exist. His most recent visit to Israel, in which he spoke with Huckabee, did not have him leaving the airport—whereas in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, he was out and about. I met Mike Huckabee a few months ago. He was extremely pleasant and thoughtful during our meeting. He did not have to meet me, but he was kind enough to meet me with my wife and one son. We all left impressed with the man and his pleasant demeanor. In point of fact, I made two requests of the ambassador, neither of which has been addressed. This outcome is identical to my interaction with Obama’s envoy, Daniel Shapiro. I also asked him two items, and he also never got back to me. Some things are unrelated to political party, religious background, or embassy location. Both men are/were employees of the State Department, and their interests are/were those of the Secretary of State and the president. I can ask, but they’ll only help if they get permission from Foggy Bottom. That does not make Huckabee any less of a person or an outstanding representative of the United States in Israel.

Tucker Carlson didn’t “lose his way.” He actively went off course. I am beginning to believe that he has always been the loathsome Jew-bashing, Israel-hating figure we see routinely today. During his Fox and prior employments, his bosses were able to keep a lid on his bad tendencies. When he went solo, he had no one to suggest that calling Trump a slave to Bibi was both dumb and wrong. So he keeps saying it over and over again. I hope that he makes his retirement soon—in Qatar. He is a poison for American politics today.
