Reporting on the Mirror – WASHINGTON POST
An announcement was made that the still-struggling Washington Post will look at layoffs for about 240 employees through buyouts or other means. That comprises about 10% of its previously truncated workforce.
To underscore how poorly things are running there, Jeff Bezos bought the paper in 2013 for $250 million. In 2023 alone, WaPo is projected to lose $100 million. And if that is not a ghastly enough sum, here are some other figures:
Context for @washingtonpost buyout program announced this morning, per interim publisher Patty Stonesifer. Since 2021:
— Paul Farhi (@farhip) October 11, 2023
--Audience: down 28 percent.
--Subscriptions: down 15 percent (to around 2.5 million).
--Print revenue: down 10 percent.
--Digital ads: down 30 percent.

- While it is tempting to repeat the talking points fed by the White House, maybe do a little research first…?
Ever since the gruesome attacks in Israel conducted by Hamas were reported, it was fairly well known that Iran was involved, and it took little time for that reality to be confirmed. Their leadership attested to it, we saw Iran cheering the event, and – oh, right – the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorists are launching attacks on Israel's northern border.
Oh, but here comes CNN to somehow…correct the record? They insist that Iran was (get ready for this) "surprised" by Saturday's attacks!
Initial US intel suggests Iran was surprised about Hamas' attack on Israel, casting doubt on the idea of Tehran's direct involvement, sources tell CNN https://t.co/DBaYY0goby

If you are wondering how they could deliver this mentally impacted report, just wait. This report was filed by four correspondents! One is the infamous Intel stooge Natasha Bertrand, who delivered such leaked classics as "Laptop Oppo-Research Shuffle" and "Russian Collusion Boogaloo."
Stealth Story Evolution – CANADIAN BROADCASTING COMPANY
- Well, sure, they sanitized the terrorist activity – they just did not expect anyone to notice!
We have covered how a great many news outlets are unwilling to label the barbaric violence seen in Israel "terrorism." One of those was the CBC, which was found to have issued an internal email directing its staff not to use that poisonous word, under caution of offending those willing to behead infants and slaughter the elderly waiting at bus stops. The last thing you would want is to appear insensitive!
Following this, the CBC was caught reporting on one Canadian citizen found to have been murdered in the Israeli attacks, and their squeamish reporting was so bad that when called out on it, the outlet deleted its post.
Good news! @CBCNews has now deleted their tweet featuring this garbage, sanitized description of the murder of Canadian Jew Adi Vital-Kaploun’s murder at the hand of Hamas terrorists! pic.twitter.com/z8DlPe0f1C

Glossary Over Things – CBS NEWS
Extending this neutered approach to reporting on the news in Israel, another outlet from the news industry that always touts the importance of the "truth" is CBS News. In reporting on a positive story of a pair of infant twins found alive, they could not bring themselves to be fully honest about the parents having been killed.
The scare quotes were apparently needed to convey that their being MASSACRED was somehow up for debate…?
10-month-old Israeli twins were found hidden and unharmed at kibbutz where Hamas “massacred” their parents and beheaded children. https://t.co/9YCtAJ6KTs

Remember when the president was going to kick off his "Bidenomics" plan by getting his Inflation Reduction Act passed? That boondoggle was somehow going to lower inflation by…spending a crapton more money that we already did not have. Well, shock upon shock, last month, the inflation not only did not dissipate, but it ROSE to 3.7%. This marks the third consecutive month of the rate rising despite claims that it has been tamed.
Yet, over at NBC News, they saw this as a great development. Note the use of "just" in their report, as if everyone had been anticipating a far worse figure…despite all of the promises otherwise.
JUST IN: Inflation rose just 3.7% in September, as a gradual consumer price slowdown resumed after a recent acceleration. https://t.co/EwmcvzCzk6

Presentation Paradox – THE LATE SHOW
- If you are unsure why they are laughing, YOU are the punchline.
With the writer's strike resolved, the late-night talk shows have resumed with the level of expected humor that is well below what you can find daily on social media. Stephen Colbert welcomed on his show Senator John Fetterman because Stephen has been on the sidelines during all of the Senate dress code controversy.
Fetterman was his usual trolling self, as seen on his Xitter account, but he was also expectantly un-self-aware. He attempted to deliver a cutting remark on other politicians, but instead, he delivered a blanket insult to Congress and included his stunted self in the insult.
Fetterman: "America is not sending their best and brightest, you know, to Washington, D.C."
