Pulitzer Prize Nomination – NBC NEWS

This weekend, there was a campaign stop for President Trump in Iowa, and during a photo-op at a local Dairy Queen, he went to the counter to announce he wanted to buy everyone in the packed establishment one of the chain's signature items, a Blizzard frozen ice cream shake. Then Trump leaned in, and the cameras caught him announcing he had no clue what this item was that he was ordering.

Bad enough that CNN held a panel for this event, but more perplexing is that NBC News also thought this was a vital news item. It filed a report strictly on the Trump frozen confectionary confusion, but it gets more baffling than that. For some inexplicable reason, the brief, a barely 250-word dispatch, needed to have four reporters in order to deliver this gripping account of the DQ order.

Pounce of Prevention – NBC NEWS

  • It is really unseemly how some of these outlets report objectively about the president…

A reminder, Chuck Todd will be stepping down from the desk of "Meet the Press" in September. We feel the need to remind folks, as he appears intent on making sure he will not be missed upon his departure.

For the latest example of Todd's unique bias, on Sunday's "MTP," he covered the topic of Biden's seventh grandchild, who Hunter and the First Family would like to forget. While more outlets have been willing to acknowledge this uncomfortable reality for the Bidens, Chuckles looked over the recent reports and became distinctly bothered by it all. So as the press covers these issues, the real problem is Trump and DeSantis noticing. Watch as Garrett Haake looks at the issue of the cocaine found inside the White House and rolls his eyes at the concept of Republicans daring to mention this. Then Chuck jumps in and states that all of this is simply "ugly."

Race to the Bottom – THE NEW YORK TIMES

In an article that states clearly drowning deaths in children have been dropping consistently for three decades, it is remarkable how there is nothing but negative angles on the matter. Yes, drowning is a leading cause of death in kids, but 30 years of decline is a favorable result. Yet, that pace has hit a valley in recent years (mostly due to Covid closing off swim lessons), and thus, the only logical conclusion can be reached with this dire news: Swimming pools are racist:

An analysis by the C.D.C. shows that Black children between ages 5 and 9 are 2.6 times more likely to drown in swimming pools than white children, and those between ages 10 and 14 are 3.6 times more likely to drown. Disparities are also present in most age groups for Asian and Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and Native American and Alaska Native children.

First Amendment Strike Force – PUBLIC BROADCASTING SERVICE

The press continues to express outrage over the White House's attempts at censoring the American public. Now…allow me to explain, properly. These warriors who pledge to hold the government accountable with their constitutionally protected First Amendment rights are not aghast that President Jose Biden and his administration were attempting to violate our rights to free expression by compelling social media platforms to silence speech it disagreed with, they are mad that a court told the administration to stop attempting to silence people.

I covered last week how The New York Times embarrassed themselves with a shameful defense of Biden over this story, actually using disinformation to justify silencing disinformation. Now, we get Jonathan Capehart of PBS discussing how important it is for the White House to be able to silence people it deems needed for silencing:

This decision boggles the mind. You have an administration that is in the middle of a pandemic. The Biden administration comes in, in the middle of a pandemic, with disinformation, misinformation. They’re literally trying to save people’s lives and see that all that misinformation and disinformation is happening on social media platforms. A responsible, functioning government would go to those social media companies and say, hey, could we have a conversation about this?

How much of that "disinformation" label was back then relying on currently debunked misinformation that came from our government is something never attempted to be explored by Capehart.

Pathological Media Amnesia – AXIOS

A sign that the facade of swellness the press has built up to protect Biden is showing signs of wear, Axios delivers an insider report that behind the scenes in the White House, the president is frequently an angry and vulgar leader with his staffers:

Behind closed doors, Biden has such a quick-trigger temper that some aides try to avoid meeting alone with him. Some take a colleague, almost as a shield against a solo blast. The president's admonitions include: "God dammit, how the f**k don't you know this?!," "Don't f**king bullsh*t me!" and "Get the f**k out of here!" — according to current and former Biden aides who have witnessed and been on the receiving end of such outbursts.

Encouraging as this shift in coverage may be, there is a forgotten element that was bypassed in this report. Recall now, as he was taking the office in January 2021, Biden stipulated that he would have zero tolerance for this exact behavior from his staff.
