Where's the Breathless Coverage of FBI Whistleblower Allegations?

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

My memory might be a little cloudy, but I'm pretty sure the corporate, legacy, propaganda media seemed rather focused on any anonymous whistleblower report that came out against President Donald Trump and/or anyone who worked in his administration.

Again, I could be wrong. After all, it was a couple of years ago, and Lord knows things moved awfully fast during that extraordinary presidency, but I'm quite sure that from The New York Times to the Washington Post to CNN to ABC News to the upstart propagandists at Axios, with screaming headlines after "Breaking News Alert" to you-must-click-this-link Facebook posts, demanded the nation take every anonymous, disgruntled deep-stater who hated Donald Trump as seriously as the pending impeachment that was surely right around the corner.

"The Walls Are Closing In!" they assured us day after day with squealing delight.

The hours and hours of television and the bytes and bytes of data streams were predicated on the rock-solid anonymous testimony of "whistleblowers" who had courageously stepped forward to call out the shattering of "norms" that were surely major felonies from January 2017 through January 2021.

So imagine our surprise as we now learn that FBI whistleblowers are delivering damning information to the Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee, and somehow, our go-to media outlets have seemed to have lost interest in the "Whistleblower Beat."

Thankfully, you have other media alternatives like Townhall, so let's get to it.

The Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee and their ranking member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) have revealed various reports of disturbing policies and procedures at the highly politicized Federal Bureau of Investigation.

On September 15, we learned...

"It doesn't take a First Amendment scholar to realize what is protected speech and what isn't… It seems clear that this is an instance where an FBI employee reported something because it didn't align with their own woke ideology… I think this is a primary example of how woke and corrupt the FBI has become," the whistleblower said in his report.

"If you fly the American flag, wear the wrong t-shirt, or express doubt about big government, then you too could be labeled a domestic terrorist by Joe Biden's Justice Department," Jordan added.

And then, on September 19, there was this report:

"The manipulative casefile practice creates false and misleading crime statistics. Instead of hundreds of investigations stemming from a single, black swan incident at the Capitol, FBI and DOJ officials point to significant increases in domestic violent extremism and terrorism around the United States," the whistleblower reported.

Yesterday, we learned the atrocious news that child abuse cases are being neglected so more right-wing extremists can be under investigation:

"The manipulative casefile practice creates false and misleading crime statistics. Instead of hundreds of investigations stemming from a single, black swan incident at the Capitol, FBI and DOJ officials point to significant increases in domestic violent extremism and terrorism around the United States," the whistleblower said.

And now, today, the latest revelation, the FBI has retaliated against a whistleblower:

"Bombshell allegations by FBI Special Agent Steve Friend contained in a whistleblower complaint filed late Wednesday with the Department of Justice inspector general reveal a politicized Washington, DC, FBI field office cooking the books to exaggerate the threat of domestic terrorism, and using an 'overzealous' January 6 investigation to harass conservative Americans and violate their constitutional rights," reports Miranda Devine at the New York Post.

So, let's be clear: In just the past two weeks, we've learned that the FBI is investigating veterans groups and other organizations that display outwardly patriotic symbols as "extremist groups," they're padding statistics of these groups to distort domestic terror statistics, they've removed agents from child abuse cases to focus more on right-wing groups and they've retaliated against a whistleblower for legally reporting this behavior.

We know this only because of revelations from the Republicans in the House and from right-of-center media outlets, like Townhall, who've reported the blockbuster revelations.

At any other time in our history, and certainly, during the Trump administration, these revelations would get some significant coverage, wouldn't you think?

But as of the writing of this column, there've been no mentions at the Washington Post or CNN

Why? Because these organizations aren't in the news business and aren't the champions of "speaking truth to power," as they assured us when Donald Trump was president. They're propagandists, and they're activists. They're not just biased in their reporting of news and politics; they're players in the game.

They're corrupt. And we deserve better.
