Seize Freedom by Rep. Thaddeus McCotter sucks. Don’t take my word for it. Here’s what he recently wrote on Breitbart.com, “Oh, I’m not the first author whose book sucked and learned the hard way that there are more people who will tell you to write a book than there are people who will buy your book.”
I suspect Rep. McCotter would agree the same thing can be said about those who encourage politicians to run for president. I haven’t read Seize Freedom (yet!), but my stepdad read it in just over a day and thoroughly enjoyed it. (Full disclosure: My house flooded and he was helping with repairs. The alternative was literally watching the paint dry.)
Actor and singer Robert Davi, who first introduced me to Rep. McCotter a few years ago, said, “Thaddeus is so funny and intelligent. He should really be the star of his own reality show. He would be able to reach and effect a heck of a lot more people. I'd like to see what he does up against Bill Maher and Jon Stewart, but then Michigan, and the nation for that matter, would lose one of its best Representatives. But since they all just kick the can up and down the hill anyway maybe affecting culture is the way to go.” (By the way, Rep. McCotter would be personally offended if I didn’t mention that Davi’s new album, “Davi Sings Sinatra” is now available on Amazon).
Rep. McCotter has served his Michigan district since 2003. He previously served in the Michigan State Senate and had a private law practice. He is a frequent guest on “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld” and his next appearance is coming up on April 26. He snarks up a monthly segment on DC’s News Channel 8 called “View from the Capitol,” hosted by Katherine Amenta (I feel her pain), which recently delved into the ghosts that are said to haunt the Capitol. He plays several guitars, including Fender telecasters and a stratocaster; a Rickerbacker 620 and 320; and an acoustic guitar.

The late Andrew Breitbart said it best when he described Rep. McCotter as “blunt, sarcastic, pop-culture-savvy, constitutionally sound and an authentic voice.”
Though it’s a bit like being the coolest kid in the A/V Club, Rep. McCotter has certainly distinguished himself from the rest of the House.

Since, during the show's March episode, Ms. Amenta arbitrarily and shabbily fired me on the air, I'd like to see "View from the Capitol" back on NewsChannel 8's Morning Show.

Patti Ann Browne; Tracy Byrnes; and Robert Davi's hair.
5. If you could play with any band who would it be?
The Screaming Lemurs.
6. What overlooked band or artist deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Per extensive market research conducted by my brother Dinky: My brother Dinky.
7. If Democrats and Republicans had theme songs for 2012 what would they be?
Lame.
8. What do you remember most about going to the movies as a kid?
How has that experience changed for the better or worse for your kids? "Sensurround." Today's kids' hearing is better.
9. Many have said that Washington D.C. is like Hollywood for ugly people. How do you think D.C. is like Hollywood? How is it different?
Speaking as an ugly person, whether in politics or entertainment, a diva is a diva.
10. What’s the best present you ever received as a child?
Life.
11. What advice do you remember your mother or father giving you? Did you take it?
My father said, "All politicians are bullsh*t artists." (See question 12, supra.)
12. Tell me about the moment you decided to enter the political arena.
Likely I made the decision to stumble into the political arena right after my father told me not to do it. Yes, kids, sadly your parents' wisdom too oft becomes more evident in hindsight.
