This week, a five-year-long investigation into Hunter Biden, who has been working as the family mule since his father became vice president, was finally indicted on federal tax and gun charges. The headlines were blaring, but a quick read of the details showed the charges were minimal, drawing harsh criticism from former federal prosecutors and attorneys of clients who received much tougher treatment for the same crimes.

"The Hunter plea is the perfect charge load to bring down a scandal without causing collateral damage. For example, the gun charge is a phantom felony that allows Hunter to go into a diversion program and ultimately negate the violation," George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley said.

"There's no such thing as not getting jail time on any kind of gun charge," Bradford Cohen, an attorney for rapper Kodak Black, said about the lack of prison time for Hunter Biden after he lied on a federal gun background check form and was in illegal possession of a firearm as a crack addict.

Then there was this interesting piece of news provided by an IRS whistleblower to the House Ways and Means Committee.

"The investigation into Hunter Biden, code name Sportsman, was first opened in November 2018 as an offshoot of an investigation the IRS was conducting into a foreign-based amateur online pornography platform," the whistleblower revealed.

Not surprisingly, there were no charges for what Hunter had on his laptop: documentation of dozens of crimes, including drug use, prostitution and much more.

But while the headlines this week were focused on Hunter Biden, it's crucial to refocus on who this scandal is really about: President Joe Biden and his exchange of changes in U.S. policy or favors for millions in dirty foreign money.

For years, President Joe Biden has repeatedly lied to the American people about his business partnership with Hunter Biden, who, according to Oversight Republicans, laundered money through dozens of shell companies for distribution to his family. Joe Biden has never explained how he afforded a $5 million beach house in addition to his $2 million Wilmington, Delaware, home. The media claims it came from book deals and speaking engagements, but the efforts by Hunter Biden and his work with "the Big Guy" tell a different story.

Biden was in on the whole scheme, and now he's abusing his power as president to protect his son. After all, Hunter did his part for the family.

"Release of whistleblower testimony and other findings implicates Attorney General Merrick Garland not only in perjury, but in full-on obstruction of justice," the New York Post reports.

Just days after the announcement of Hunter Biden's easy charges, he attended a White House State Dinner with his father. Also in attendance? Attorney General Garland.

Joe Biden was willing to sellout the country to line his own pockets. His attorney general obstructed the IRS investigation into his son. These things are not in dispute and haven't been for a long time. The question now is whether Biden will be held accountable – through Congress with impeachment or by the American people in the 2024 election.
