Christian writers conf. adds track for ministers
RIDGECREST, N.C. (BP) -- Sessions for pastors and ministers looking to expand their reach through the written word have been added to this spring's Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference.

Alton Gansky, director of the annual event, will lead the sessions for ministers during the May 20-24 conference at LifeWay Ridgecrest (N.C.) Conference Center.

The new track will teach ministers how to make greater use of sermons and Bible studies through such print forms as articles and books, said Gansky, a full-time writer who served as a pastor 22 years and has authored 40 books.

"A great deal of mental and spiritual energy goes into a sermon or teaching series," Gansky said. "Through the written word, that work can reach beyond the front door of the church and into the world." Writing "has always been part of God's plan to spread the Gospel," Gansky said, noting that God used the apostle Paul to write half of the books in the New Testament.

Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference, now in its 25th year, is one of the largest Christian writing conferences in the country in which experienced and novice writers can find opportunities to interact with editors, agents and writers while attending workshops in most areas of writing, including novels, nonfiction books, screenplays, visual media, devotions, freelance, children's material, magazine articles and Internet content.
