Airports on High Alert in Response to Terror Threat

In light of a possible vehicle bomb plot against New York or Washington, DC this weekend, airports across the United States have beefed up security.

Los Angeles, for example, has already added bomb sniffing dogs and bomb detection equipment.

While L.A. was the final destination of three out of the four hijacked planes on September 11, 2001, passengers appear to be calm and have confidence in American security forces.

“I never consider changing my plans,” said one traveler. “It always crosses my mind. But I have full faith in all the security and all the precautions that we take now.”

Officials believe the terroist threat may be linked to al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
